need a hand? gus has you.

The quick answers are below. If you don't find what you need, email [email protected] — a real person reads every message, usually within a day or two.

the basics
What is Gumption?

A three-minute morning practice for people who give too much. You listen to a short broadcast, reflect on where you held back or said yes when you meant no, and the next morning Gus follows up on what you actually said. It's a daily way to build boundaries — not weekly therapy, not a generic journal.

Who is it for?

Recovering people-pleasers — anyone caught in the loop of over-giving, going quiet to avoid conflict, and then resenting it afterward. If you've read the boundary books and watched the videos but have no daily practice that sticks, that's exactly the gap Gumption fills.

How does the morning ritual work?

Three steps, every morning: listen to a three-minute broadcast (a centering minute with Gus, then a prompt), say it plainly by typing your reflection, and come back tomorrow — when Gus follows up on what you said and banks the day.

What are "banked days"?

Every day you show up is banked — and nothing ever resets it. There's no breakable streak and no guilt for a missed day. You can't lose what you've already banked. It's the same daily-consistency reward as a streak, without the catastrophic "you broke it" feeling.

free, pro & billing
Is Gumption free?

Yes — the core works free, forever: the daily broadcast, the reflection journal, banked days, and a basic next-morning note from Gus. No account needed.

What do I get with Gumption Pro?

Pro unlocks the coach that remembers you: next-morning follow-ups that thread your whole history (not just yesterday), a weekly insight that names the pattern across your week, and a one-tap share clip. It's $39.99/year with a 7-day free trial.

How do I manage or cancel my subscription?

Your subscription is handled by Apple. On your iPhone, open Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions, tap Gumption, and you can change or cancel there. To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Cancelling keeps Pro active until the end of the period you've paid for.

I already paid — how do I restore my purchase?

Open the paywall in the app and tap Restore. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID you purchased with, your Pro access will come right back. If it doesn't, email us and we'll help.

How do refunds work?

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds go through Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com to request one. We can't issue refunds directly, but we're happy to help you sort out any issue.

privacy & your data
Is my journal private?

Completely. Your reflections live on your device — no account, no cloud history. To write your Pro next-morning note, today's reflection is sent anonymously (no name, no email, no device ID), used once, and never stored. The full details are in our Privacy Policy.

Do you track me or run ads?

No. Gumption has no analytics SDKs, no advertising, and no third-party trackers. We don't use the advertising identifier and we don't track you across apps.

How do I delete my data?

Because everything lives on your device, deleting the app removes all of it — your reflections, banked days, and notes. We don't keep a server-side copy of your journal to delete, because we never made one. The one exception is any feedback you chose to send us through "Help shape Gumption" — email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

Can I use Gumption offline?

Yes. The broadcast, reflecting, banking, and the on-device next-morning note all work without a connection. The Pro server-threaded follow-up and weekly insight need internet — but if you're offline, Gus falls back to the on-device note so your morning is never blank.

one important thing
Is Gumption therapy?

No. Gumption is a self-reflection and personal-growth practice — it is not therapy, counseling, or medical care, and it's not a substitute for professional treatment. Gus's notes are AI-generated reflections to consider, not advice to follow.
