These terms govern your use of Gumption. We've kept them human. The most important part — that Gumption is a practice, not a clinician — is right up top.
Gumption is not therapy or medical care. It is a self-reflection and personal-growth tool — a daily practice, not a substitute for professional mental-health treatment, diagnosis, or advice. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, please contact your local emergency services or a crisis line right away. In the US, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline).
By downloading or using Gumption, you agree to these Terms of Use and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. If you're using Gumption, you confirm you're at least 13 years old (and, if under the age of majority where you live, that a parent or guardian agrees on your behalf).
Gumption helps you build a daily reflection habit around boundaries and people-pleasing, with a coach character (Gus) who responds to what you write. It is intended for general wellness and self-improvement.
Gumption is not a medical device, healthcare service, or licensed counseling. Nothing in the app is medical, psychological, legal, or financial advice. Always seek the guidance of a qualified professional for any condition or decision that warrants it. Never disregard or delay professional advice because of something an app said.
Gus's next-morning follow-ups and weekly insights are generated by automated AI systems. They can be wrong, incomplete, or sound more certain than they should. They are reflections to consider, not instructions to follow. Use your own judgment, and don't treat AI-generated text as professional advice. You're responsible for what you choose to do with it.
Gumption is free to use at its core. Gumption Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the coach that remembers your history, the weekly insight, and the one-tap share clip.
This mirrors the disclosure shown on the in-app paywall before purchase: "7-day free trial, then $39.99/year. Auto-renews yearly until you cancel — no charge before the trial ends, cancel anytime in Settings."
Your reflections are yours. They are stored on your device, and we don't claim ownership of them. As described in our Privacy Policy, the only time your reflection text leaves your device is to generate a Pro note — sent anonymously, used once, and never stored by us.
Please use Gumption for its intended purpose. Don't attempt to reverse-engineer, disrupt, overload, or abuse the app or its coaching service, and don't use it to break the law or harm others.
Gumption is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We don't guarantee that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that Gus's notes will be accurate or suitable for your situation.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, PLAYRIOT will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any decisions you make based on the app or its content. Your use of Gumption is at your own discretion and risk.
We may update, change, or discontinue features over time, and we may revise these terms. If we make material changes, we'll update the date above and reflect them in the app. Continuing to use Gumption after changes take effect means you accept the revised terms.
